Clematis and Butterfly Throw

I just had to show you this picture of a Mogwaii butterfly throw with the climbing clematis dangling in front of it.

Something about it appeals to me a lot!

Lots of love

Grass and Twig samples

Yesterday I was designing for a future collaboration with a much bigger blind company with a view to wider distribution and more extensive marketing.

The new designs are adaptations of the Grass, Twig and Strip blind but with a few changes and using a fantastic UK woven shetland wool tweed. I am loving the scrumptuous concoctions of fibre colours all mixed in to the yarns and the fabric is so soft and pliable. I know these designs are going to work really well when laminated and made into roller blinds. I’m itching to see the final effect.

While making up the samples it occurred to me that they would all go together to make a fantastic quilt. Who’d like a sample quilt? I’d love to make one.

Who\'d like a sample quilt?

I have a hunch that every child is suited to a different instrument. We’re not all made for fiddle, flute or double base. Each instrument suits a different character…get it wrong and the child will eventually dig in the heals and resist big time. I did with the violin ..I’ve always found anything played on the e string painful. Tom, I think, is a blower…whether it’s trumpet, horn or bag pipes, he’s born to blow (a lot of hot air) and here he is proudly practising the Highland pipes. He’s still at a very early stage and I think you will probably be grateful for no accompanying sound clips.

Cow scratch felt

Yesterday I spotted this inspirational bit of fencing while cycling back from the studio. I think a cow has gotten itchy and created it’s own , special felt balls. For some reason these haphazard quirks of nature appeal to my aesthetic sense and one day I’d like to incorporate something of this image in some work.

Cosy barbs!
